The following we are going to discuss few
of many historical places in Madina which a pilgrim would love to visit. Out of
all places, a visit to Masjid-e-Quba is highly suggested as holds very much
importance and status, next to the Masjid-e-Nabwi (Holy Prophet’s Mosque).
1. Jannat-ul-Baqi
The graveyard of Madina, where a great number of Sahabah (companions) including Hazrat Usman (RA), Hazrat Abbas (RA), Hazrat Imam Hassan (RA), and wives and daughters of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are buried. This graveyard is near to the rest-place of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), right after the courtyard of the Masjid-e-Nabawi.

2. Masjid-e-Quba
This is the first masjid (mosque) in the history of Islam whose foundation or initial stone was laid down by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself on his migration from Makkah to Madina. A visit to Masjid-e-Quba is highly recommended.

3. Masjid-e-Qiblatain
In this masjid (mosque), ALLAH
Almighty directed
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was in the
middle of a namaz along with His companions, to turn His face from first Qibla
(Bait-ul-Muqqadis) of Islam (Biat-ul-Mauqaddis) to Holy Kaaba in Masjid
Al-Haram. That is why this masjid (mosque) is well-known as a mosque with two
Qiblas (directions).
4. Masjid-e-Jummah
This masjid (mosque) was built at
a site where the Prophet (PBUH) offered His first Jummah namaz in Madina.
5. Masjid-e-Ghamama
This masjid (mosque) is not far
from Masjid-e-Nabawi. The Prophet (PBUH) used to offer Eid namaz here. Once the
Prophet (PBUH) led Istisqa namaz or namaz-e-istisqa (prayer for rain) in it and
all of a sudden the clouds appeared and it started raining, therefore the name
Ghamama (clouds).
6. Masjid Umar
Farooque, Masjid Abu Bakr, and Masjid Ali These three masjid (mosques)
are close to Masjid-e-Ghamama.
7. Badr
The plain of Badr is south west of city Madina where the initial or
first battle between 313 Muslims and about 1000 Quraish of Makkah took place in
624 A.D. The Muslims had 70 camels and 2 horses while the Quraish had a cavalry
of 700 camels and 200 Horses. They were superior and better in weapons too, but
Muslims were successful and victorious because they were strong in strategy and
morale and due to the leadership and guidance of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
8.
Jabal Al-Uhad
About 4 miles on the north of Madina,
well-known battle of Uhad was fought at 3 A.H. Hazrat Hamza, the uncle of Holy
Prophet (PBUH), and other companions are buried here.
There are also so many other historical places
in the blessed city of Madina .
Each pilgrim is suggested to visit as many places as possible in Madina, and it
is hence encouraged to enquire group leaders which places are planned to be
visited in the sacred journey.
